Farm Fresh Tour – Getting To Know California Farmers

Well, I arrived in Carmel California and am super excited for the Farm Fresh Tour being put on by Know a California Farmer.  In full disclosure, the Know a California Farmer effort is a project that I work on at my day job with AdFarm.  That said, I grew up in the city, and over the past few years I have had the opportunity to tour farms across the country, and I love every minute of it.  It is a fantastic mix of getting into nature and learning more about food production and where the food I love to cook comes from and how it is produced.

For the next two days, I will be joined by a wide variety of bloggers, farmers and social media folks.  It’s a great group of people joining up on the Farm Fresh Tour including Katie Pinke, Libby Hall, Jay Baer, Brandon Souza, Sarah Kolell, Lisa and TamiChef John, Lisa Camenzind, Catherine Enfield, Christine Young, Irvin Lin, Nancy Grossi and more.

We are all meeting up Friday night for dinner.  Saturday morning we are having breakfast featuring a welcome by Jay Baer and Katie Pinke.  After that, we head out to Tanimura & Antle to see how they grow their iceberg and artisan lettuce and a variety of vegetables.  From there, we head to Naturipe Farms to learn about berry production including strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries.  Our last stop will be at Galante Vineyard in Monterey to learn about wine production, have a wine tasting and a wrap up to the event.

I’m super excited for the Farm Fresh Tour.  Meeting new friends, seeing old friends and learning about food production.

I’ve shared a few pics from past farm tours, and I’ll be taking lots of photos of the Farm Fresh Tour, so look for a post about my experience in the near future!
